Agreed. They're high IQ, innovative and industrious people. Imagine the strides in petrochemical chemistry, extraction engineering, fossil fuel power generation and consumer goods production they would have made.

They would unironically make better use of it than Poland, who'd probably not exploit it at all or even if they did, waste it all on their useless people's domestic needs.

Germans should honestly replace everyone else on the planet

The issue is cost and upfront capital investment. Having trillions of tons of oil doesn't matter if it's so fucking deep and hard to extract that the eventual oil costs $200 a barrel.

Even if the extraction costs are low, the upfront capital costs are also killer. Sure the lithium you can mine might be 50% less expensive, but you need $20 billion and 5 years upfront to open up a mine before you see a single cent, so why invest in a new project?

There's plenty of countries with massive proven oil/gas or rare metals reserves that can't access them because of this.

Well yes venezuela is a good example.
But i think the reason behind these articles and pieces propping up is just to attract investment.
Probably the cost of exteaction per oil ml is high and they want to inflate some investment by selling a petrostate that wont come to be

Lots of "natural" reserves that never come to be because they are low quality or need too much refinement
Same with canada and the underground reservoirs

Worthless. Pr stunt by mining corps to dig for new iron deposits. "Oh nooo guys look! There's some pesky iron in the way of our hecking wholesome renewability rocks!"
Norwegian oil corps tried pulling the same stunt recently as well. They took it one step further though and tried claiming they would be the first ones on earth to operate deep sea mining.
We have heaps of crude uranium just laying around as a byproduct of normal mining. No one wants it. There's no market cap for any of this shit. The US has the largest Lithium deposits in the world. They don't operate a single mine for it.

>Nooo it's all war's fault. In fact, war often accelerated technological progress. Without it, we might still be living with technology that's one or two decades behind. Dismissing these innovations as pointless is also a sign of ignorance. Jets, rockets, new materials, and other breakthroughs originated during wartime and later fueled the technological arms race of the Cold War.

They found it in May. Well confirmed it was a massive deposit in a good location. Not all oil is the same quality or as easy to get to. It's actually really good and in an easy position. The North Central part of Poland and the coast line is thought to be loaded. Right now it's like 22 million tons confirmed. they actually have a lot of now useable resources which is kind of funny considering the rest of Europe is so arrogant they missed it. There is places now minable for nuclear fuel, random deposits of coal that can now be used. Times change. Americans have been aware for months.
