a female colleague of mine did her bachelor's in the Netherlands and never picked up any Dutch, not even pointless banalities like hello or thank you, she would always speak to them in English and they would oblige. of course she also wrote her thesis in English.
unpopular opinion but the Anglos and their language are a major cause of what's going on in Western countries right now since it createst the expectation that you can get by in every country with English. that's why whenever I travel somewhere I try to pick up a little bit of the language, speaking English to elderly people just seems rude

wouldn't say so, but admirable of you either way
normies are vapid materialist cunts with little to no selfawareness and with no appreciation of culture in general, they only realize it'd be nice to have some identity when a random foreigner they want to impress asks them about it and they have nothing to say

The measure in the OP is about our universities offering a lot of very popular studies in English with the sole intention of amassing as many international students as possible.
Think of stuff like English only psychology studies in Amsterdam which is apparently the most popular studies in the entire country.

For year and years we did everything to bring in all the international students in Europe and now as a result Dutch students are ever more living at home while Felix-Kai and Olivia are living in 10m2 student housing for €1100.

We have an extremely unfair tax cut for expats (not sure if EU migrants apply for this) and way more professional jobs than educated people.
All of our cities host large amount of western migrants who don't speak a single word of Dutch and are just here for a few years with no real intention of staying.
You will find there's a very harsh separation between Dutch people and "internationals" as they are called. Lots of shared housing has a no-internationals policy while they always live in houses with only other foreigners.

If you want to know their stories just go to /r/Netherlands, it's the subreddit for these people.

Dutch women too, for example psychology at the University of Amsterdam is the absolute #1 most prestigious studies among zoomerettes.
I'm sure in Germany it's like psychology at the most left wing university of Berlin

The supply of language is too high. We need a little bit of consolidation.

If your language is spoke by less than 100M people, its time to accept reality.

>way more professional jobs than educated people
Is that really the case? It's the opposite here. Are the taxes high enough to drive people away despite the high quality of life? I thought lots more people would like to live there after NJB romanticized the place so much. Reminds me how a friend of mine worked there at a biotech startup in Amsterdam without a visa and never got paid, maybe that has something to do with it.

Dutch is an accent of English just with German words mixed in like other English has French words mixed in

And I'm sure Dutch has French words but they just have more German words.
Knowing a few phrases and a bit of sentence construction in German and knowing English makes me know half of Dutch.

except for "assimilate" and "learn culture" I think that's the plan
if expats set up a parallel society around the universities you can still farm tax revenue off them
I don't like the idea though, if you move somewhere you should make an effort to learn the local language and try to become a part of the society there, even if it's hard. I'll continue in English if someone speaks to me that way but I always ask in (bad, but improving) Japanese first and such.
