Workplace injury frauds by foreign workers.

Only after someone dies, and only then the authorities under PAP may choose to react.

As in?
Local Indians(born citizen) don't see such jeets as one of their own people.

And foreign workers have desire to commit such frauds because the payout is a fucking windfall in their third world currencies. And the lawyers just want money, regardless of blood spilled or not.

>“I can’t help it but to go over to give her a gentle pat at her back, can tell she is really exhausted,” wrote Ms Lee.

>“So please don’t go bargain with your hawkers; the amount of work for a plate of Nasi Padang is literally blood and sweat,” she added.

>Ms Lee highlighted coming across customer comments and complaints regarding the more expensive price of Padang compared to Cai Peng.

>She also gave a shoutout to Shima’s Kitchen, noting that the food is “truly out of this world, full of spices, bursting with flavours.”

>Members from the online community agreed that being a hawker was not an easy job.

>“Behind all these fantastic foods we are having are all real hard work,” said Facebook user Henry Tan.

>“Sometimes, some soothing words from a stranger does comfort the tiredness. Not easy being a hawker, long hours, stand the whole day,” added Facebook user Fedrick Ng.

>A netizen provided a word of caution when patronising the particular stall.

>“Maybe because of their rush to move the queue, they might tend to undercharge. So guys, when the total seems a little low, do ask them to calculate,” said Facebook user Love Jungkook./TISG

>For those who don't know, once the worker hires a lawyer, MOM will not longer be involved in the case. Then it will be the employer vs the law firm. Then there is the part where the employer can't hire their own lawyer without the insurance company's approval. Therefore, until the insurance company's lawyer takes up the case, the employer is left dealing with the other parties lawyer himself.

The family totally refused to be interviewed by the mainstream media at her wake.
And she's a Christian which is pretty odd for this to happen here.

We just had a general election in May and PAP still retains supermajority of the seats in parliament.

PAP won't bother resolving such fraudulent exploitation since the election is over.
Now they are censoring and burying this incident like many other such fraud cases before.

What's even the point of insurance then. The whole point of insurance is to protect both parties. We have regulations and bureaucracy exactly to avoid getting sued.

The ultimate culprits here are the law firms. Sure, there are the banglas who want to make a quick illegal fortune and flee back home but from what I've read, you have to push the blame upstream to the law firms.
Going even further upstream, it's the mismatch of cultures, i.e. low-trust scammy culture in a relatively higher-trust one.
And by the way, I don't think things would be much more different if another group of politicians are in charge. I can see the importing of South Asian labour (both blue and white-collar) being beyond their control. Governments are just middle management for global capitalism or whatever you wanna call the prevailing economic system.

>ultimate culprits here are the law firms
And it is the law itself that allows these law firms to getaway with assisting those foreign fraudsters. These have been happening since 2010 and it is due to Jane Lee's suicide that such matters are being brought to light now.

> mismatch of cultures
Yes, and no. If it is just "mismatch of cultures", this sort of fraud won't be kept under the carpet for 14+ years. The false narrative by PAP is what allows Singaporeans to be easily deceived(and scammed) by foreigners and by burying news of these frauds, it helps to keep the facade that "foreigners are more hungry" when they are not.

>I don't think things would be much more different if another group of politicians are in charge
PAP have supermajority of seats in parliament. They can pass all sort of bullshit they want with no resistance like with "no jab go jail"

>beyond their control. Governments are just middle management
Then the ministers' pay shouldn't be that immorally high, isn't it?
