Every 200-300 years or so, that entire valley basically becomes a giant bathtub and floods.

Literally tens of trillions worth of damages and will destroy America's entire tech sector if it happens today

I like it a lot but they're missing all of the humid biomes. No swamp or subtropical/tropical areas, lush forests.

looks shit. a city basically needs plains continuous to the sea shore to activate the maritime trading.
and basins like this usually make it cold in winter and hot in summer.

lol @ the coping against california, it's the richest area in the richest country in the world; freezing mountain peaks to arid desert and everything in between, population centers in areas of perfect year round weather, best beaches in the country (blows everything atlantic or gulf away) crazy biomes like the redwoods and death valley, big ass sierra nevadas, and they have timber, oil, minerals, gold, and LITERALLY the most valuable soil in the country, things are grown in the central valley that can't be grown anywhere else, and that's on top of being the entertainment and tech headquarters of the world.

All of this combined is why the devil took over california as soon as he could and rules it as a materialist hellscape full of beaners. It's the promised land, but the people it's promised to are in exile. It needs a crusade.

>No swamp or subtropical/tropical areas, lush forests.

These humid biomes (tropical and subtropical) are disgustingly stifling and expendable. High relative humidity has never been comforting. Nigga climate; that's why the East Coast is full of nigga people, haha

Much better is the humid temperate rainforest biome and the temperate oceanic climate; and you have them from northern California to British Columbia, Canada. This climate is epic, comforting and its geography is much more dramatic, scenic and entertaining than the boring, stifling (and even poisonous) tropical and subtropical biomes.

Flat terrain isn't aesthetically pleasing compared to California's dramatic, scenic, and rugged Mediterranean coasts. It's stupid to think that a city has to be flat to thrive on maritime trade with all the technology, mechanics, and motorization available. Your fallacy doesn't even hold true in ancient times: the Mediterranean (absolutely steep and mountainous coasts) experienced for centuries one of the most successful maritime trades in human history.

It's cold in the winter and hot in the summer, you fool. In any case, California is MUCH more pleasant in the summer than the humid, stifling hell of the Japanese summer, especially Tokyo.

The flat terrain is not aesthetically pleasing compared to the dramatic, scenic and rugged Mediterranean coastline of California. Anyway it is stupid to think that a city has to be flat to activate its maritime commerce with all the existing technology, mechanics and motorization. Even in antiquity your fallacy is not valid: the Mediterranean (absolutely steep and mountainous coasts) experienced for centuries one of the most successful maritime trade in the history of mankind.
