However, in reality, it's hell. Proof of this can be found on this board. A significantly high percentage of Japanese flag posters are schizophrenic. The Japanese thread resembles a psychiatric ward.

In Japan, it is extremely difficult to maintain mental health, even when living a normal life. Or perhaps it's difficult to live a normal life here.

I spent 1 year living there on working holiday. It was alright, but in many ways it felt like a third world country. Many things were backwards and low quality. But I did enjoy the lifestyle overall; very comfy, but quite degenerate. Let's be real though, I was on a 1 year holiday, because I never worked a day. Never even bothered applying anywhere desu.

Both are incredibly daunting. I speak advanced English and still German is hard for me. An average Ukrainian doesn't speak any non-Slavic languages, learning German for him would be a very difficult task and majority of people I know failed to reach B1 (one of the most basic levels, you can't even enroll into trades with language like this). And Krauts are autistic about their language and often demand you to reach C1 level, which is just one step below the native (C2)

I am Japanese but I had to do highschool and college in a shithole Westoid country where I was pretty much an incel

I heard Niigata is fairly nice because of a based former prime minister who hailed from there, but the rest of the country can come across as a total shithole, and a SOVL throwback to the 90s at best. I sooo want to live in Meguro-ward in Tokyo in a cozy apartment just by myself, but jobs that can pay for the rent never materializes for me. I know it's not my fault but it's how firms in Japan perceive the shithole Westoid country I was schooled in.

My wife is Japanese, so I travel to Japan every year, for at least a month, although sometimes I've gone for three months. I really like being there; it's a very comfortable country where everything is clean and orderly, and everything works well for someone like me, who comes from a noisy country where things work... so so. I don't immerse myself in Japanese society or master the Japanese language, and I don't intend to because I want to be the exotic foreigner forever because I feel that if I learn Japanese and immerse myself in Japanese culture, the magic will end. I often tell my wife that we should go live there for a couple of years and, if we are well there, stay, but she doesn't even want to talk about it. She prefers to live in Spain precisely because she's traumatized by the hypocrisy and oppression of Japanese society.

I imagine that to anyone who feels trapped in Japanese society, the unique language and the difficult writing system must make it seem difficult to escape.
If I wanted to escape my country, I guess I could attempt to get a visa in Australia or something. Or I could learn a language like German, French or Spanish (no small task, but probably much easier for me than for a Japanese person).
If a Japanese person wanted to escape, any countries to which to escape would have alien cultures and would have languages difficult to learn and read.
