I'm learning Dutch because it sounds funny.

I thought we were the only ones to whom it sounds funny.
Nice people, though, and a nice country.

It sounds funny to English speakers because there are a lot of similar sounding words and phrases. And it kinda sounds like English sometimes, but in an uncanny way like the Sims.

To us in the northwest it sounds exactly like farmers used to speak until a hundred or so years ago. Lowlands German and Dutch are mutually intelligible. Lowlands German has died out, though. (Or is in the process of dying out.)

English is no Latin. Go to Spanish, Portuguese, or Italian for that.

I'll probably vacation to the Netherlands once and try to use Dutch only for everyone to switch to English when they realize that Dutch isn't my first language, and then come back disappointed and regretting having learned a language with the majority of native speakers also speaking English.

>English is so classic and noble like Latin but I still use stupid neologisms like 'ick' because I'm a retarded mouthbreather

Aren’t Dutch the most fluent in English compared to the rest of Europe? It’s funny how there’s a country in South America that speaks Dutch that everyone forgets about.

Watch Ongezellig for input. Nothing else worth watching so just watch that as many times as you sneed to.

Not really guides but:
>Easy Dutch (don’t know if they have their own channel though)
>Lingopie (requires subscription but they just released shows/programs in Dutch)
>Pimsleur (subscription that focuses on listening comprehension)

Probably doesn’t hurt to buy a grammar book

EasyDutch does have its own channel: https://www.youtube.com/@EasyDutch/videos
There are other comprehensible input resources listed here, but I haven't looked at them myself because I'm not learning Dutch
