Anon, they literally did already do that in 1973 when Egypt fucking caught them off guard.
Israel is morally evil but Arabs need to sober the fuck up to the fact that they've been militarily humiliated MULTIPLE times

Hamas isn't necessarily an insurgency like Al-Qaeda or the Muslim Brotherhood. They were the official government of Gaza, managing the institutions and economy of the region, with many well-trained and armed battalions. I think that's a detail that many people lose. They're not playing whack-a-mole with irregular MB guerillas in the Sinai, they're undergoing a total rebuilding of the region without their long-established authority in the picture. Hamas has been governing Gazans since the 1980s. The spiritual leader of the organisation has been a prominent figure even before its creation, working through the Mujama al-Islamiya charity in the 1970s before he established Hamas.

Both sides were given access to intelligence by the world superpowers. Do you not know how strongly the Soviet Union backed Nasser and Sadat? The Soviet Union literally had to step in after Israel threatened to take the war to Cairo.

Exactly, it's the most densely populated province in all the Near East. As much as it seems like Israel has no care about civilian casualties, it's really held back from going full scorched Earth to clamp down on Hamas. It has to resort to these touch and go operations in the separation between civilians and militants, since they can't mobilise the kind of forces that the Coalition could in the war on terror.

I do agree that Israel had poor outcomes in Sadat's October War, I just wanted to contextualise the power blocs within the middle East. It wasn't just Israel and the US against the independent Arab world. The Soviet Union weren't shy about their assistance to Assad & the Hashemites & Egypt.

A bit of a non-sequitur, but can I ask what the Egyptian perspective is on the Arab Spring now? Was the moment appropriated by MB Salafists like the Islamists in the Iranian Revolution? Or were they propped up by popular approval?

You are wrong about assad and hashemites

Baathists positioned themselves as enemies or rivals to egypt from the beginning

They had couped nasser and tortured his supporters, they basically got us attacked in 1967

then tensions grew further after nasser. In the war itself and due to the limited range of mig-21 They were supposed to carry out an air strike on north israel at the beginning while egypt was supposed to do so on the southern territories. For some reason they didn't which hampered the plan
Also Egypt had to commit strategic suicide by advancing out of air defense range because they kept pressuring us to do so

As for Hashemite's they literally tipped off israel before the war. Well known fact

Arab spring started out as a popular uprising but was later hijacked by (islamists and arab nationalists). These are the vanguard of opposition here and both are anarchists and once in power, their countries get occupied and bombarded to rubble.
