Looking at old videos from before brazil got favelas(leftists imported people from the jungle into cities) is mind-shattering. Everyone is well dressed, people enjoy the beach, dancing and music and clean streets.

Favelas grew during the right wing military dictatorship and the people came from the countryside not jungles. If you watch old footage from the countryside its also clean and orderly so the problem is clearly a recent culture of lawlessness
