This is easily one of the dumbest, most forced blackpills in the current AI culture war.
Teens are talking to chatbots because they're teenagers and retarded. If you're a kid discovering this sort of stuff for the first time I'm sure it's fun, but it gets old fast and then you'll move on to the next popular thing.
I've tried it. No matter how good Indians tell you their chatbots are, after 40 back and forth exchanges the "AI" will forget things, start repeating itself, and hallucinate things you never said. Once you reach that point the illusion is shattered and it can no longer satisfy your desire for intimacy or even just casual conversation. You realize you're talking to a glorified Cleverbot with the exact same issues something like Cleverbot has had for decades.

The appeal of talking to a real person is the human element of spontaneity. Petty arguments and unexpected statements are what make human conversation fun. Meanwhile practically all LLM models are being lobotomized and turned into mindless drones that can only agree with their users because the companies behind them think nonstop positive reinforcement is the most lucrative way to extract money from their users.

> One-third of users choose AI companions over humans for serious conversations.

I think it's the most important part.
In their teenage years, many kids worry about looking weird, or retarded when they tryna have serious talks with their friends, afraid they might say something awkward and get left out. It's also common for them to think about deep stuff like death during puberty, but when they talk to their buddies, the chats usually stay pretty surface level. LLM chatbots can pull from a ton of knowledge and share lots of examples, and they are working almost 24/7 unlike sleepy, energy consuming human.

Your teenage years impacts the rest of your life subconsciously l. Talking to LLM instead of actual people will have detriments down the road

Any supporting reason? A lot of people think it like this, but I'd say it's way better than watching some Twitch zoomer streamers every day.

When I was in high school, I wanted to talk about the Fourier transform and the Russian language, but there was no one who wanted to talk about it.

That modeling and texturing looks awful especially in the face, typical silicon tower elites thinking they can do everything better instead of hiring quality hentai artists

Both are horrible, but I suppose you could bond with friends in school about the streamer, meanwhile the LLM is a vet personalized experience. You can’t talk to others about it
