Also don't listen to the Anon who told you to just ignore the family's opinion. Arab relationships (marriages) don't work like Western ones at all. You're going to be regularly interacting with your future partner's family and you might even have to live with them under the same roof. If they dislike you or worse yet think you're just a dumb [redacted] that's going to cause a LOT of friction in your day-to-day life and interactions with them which might legitimately ruin your relationship.
