Sarcasm isn't comedic. It's often used to make an indirect point, or to express disinterest or rebuking. Nobody laughs at sarcasm.
Puns are the actual lowest form of humor. Everyone else agrees.

Each country has each type of jokes other people don't get it, but you guys really love to talk about American jokes, British jokes and Japanese jokes because these are the only jokes globally consumed.
You guys don't even know what Indian jokes, Indonesian jokes, or Chilean jokes obviously because their humour are too irrelevant.

Japanese have low verbal IQ due to confucious culture labeling argument as a taboo (as it disrupts social harmony). That means they're great at making Toyotas and Switch games but not very good at creative writing or comedy.

Meanwhile the Jews are verbal IQ masters: they're the ones in Hollywood after all.

I hate to admit this but they do understand Western culture a shit ton better than any other Asian. For example, the timmy cope makes me think of Timmy Turner from Fairly Odd Parents and that's exactly the image they want to project in that meme.

I've found a few youtube channels in Japanese that I find absolutely hilarious and I don't understand why that format doesn't exist in the west. They don't use slapstick or use random people as the butt of their joke. Just overall funny comedy sketches with rapid speech and fast progression of a bizarre and awkward situtation without relying entirely on one joke and a comedically timed punchline.

I don't think it's true. There are multiple terms for sarcasm in Japanese.

ใใไธๅฏง, for when someone is excessively polite to show their displeasure, is a type of sarcasm I see quite often. It's a little like how in the west, if someone tells you something that's so obvious you feel insulted by it, you might say, "Wow, thank you for taking the time to tell me! I had no idea!"

Puns and wordplay are the highest form of comedy.
The lowest form of comedy is repetition. That shit that stand up comedians like kevin heart use as a formula. That thing where you establish something mildly amusing early in the set only to bring it up a couple of more times but particularly at the end again so that the audience's brains go "i remember that" and then you get automatic laughs. It's not even comedy, it's manipulation.

it's something that doesn't translate at all so i'm clueless. that being said, apparently they also use a lot of slapstick and juvenile garbage for kids because dark humour is taboo and apparently sarcasm they don't get
