These guys losing their language and culture just to be another different flavor of Arab is still one of the most tragic things to happen in this reality.
Same with Iran, but they at least kept their language.

Egypt was always a semitic country even before it became abrahamic, so it was always "a kind of Arab".

religion is not a race that you can't switch and therefore isn't a larp.

Yeah but it sucks that they all just became Arab. Berbers and Levantines would also be a lot more kino if they all still had their original languages.

it's grim just how much of the culture and history of the middle east has been destroyed by arab nationalism since the 50s
All of them are slowly eating their minorities (or rapidly like with syria, Iraq, lebanon, sudan) until the entire area becomes generic arabistan and even blowing up all the historical sites

Persian culture became prestigious in the Caliphates and Persian scholars were patronised en mass. Roman culture was not, and directly opposed by the Caliphates. Scholars in the Near East were effectively all independent and lived off of their own revenues rather than being given patronage and their destination of choice was the Byzantine Empire when they could move anywhere.

Egypt was not semetic. Only foreign rulers like the Hyksos and very very briefly the Assyrians could be considered that. You're left with a 1400 year gap between Assyrians and Arabs

Didn't happen. Shit we can barely even teach kids English because we don't have teachers above a B1 in English (I've seen shit like four-feet table, immediately as a time clause like "after", diabates [sic], etc in highschool), and good luck finding a single decent French professor in this country much less a German one. How the hell would we go about teaching kids a mostly extinct (except for liturgical use) afro-asiatic language with no living relatives? Idk where you guys get these news.

not at all, nafris are by far seen as the best of the sunni arabs because we mostly have friendly relations with iran and don't engage in religious or political shit flinging with them
we don't care about the sunni/shia thing or middle eastern power politics

Uhhh what? The Egyptians were invaded by Hittites, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, French, Italian, British etc. The Ancient Egyptians were already ancient to the Romans. Did you expect them to survive unscathed over 4000 years?

Not really a fair comparison, since none of those groups ever pressed their culture and language on the native population as much as the Arabs did. For example Egypt was under roman and later byzantine rule for nearly 6 centuries and yet despite Coptic adopting the Greek alphabet we neither took their language nor culture; Hellenism (not even Latin) was isolated to the learned upper classes. Arabs however slowly erased the native language partially through normal cultural dominance and partially through violence (Al-Hakik Bi-Amr Allah) , and equally erased the culture and native religion because they were mushriks and just stamped "Arab" all over the place.

also how do you know about the Hittites (they never actually conquered Egypt they just fought with em in the Levant which gave us the first peace treaty in history), but don't know about the Persians? Also Italy never invaded Egypt other than an unsuccessful attempt in WW2, it was Libya that they conquered.

How was that? Judging by how Copts live (poorer than average) I don't think that was really big loss. Arabism was a positive thing to Egypt.
