I know a guy who lives in the US that told me, quote on quote, "having a manual in the US is the perfect anti-theft device here, no one knows how to drive one here, they tried to steal my Audi (he drives a manual Q3 there) thinking that it would start putting it on reverse". Americans are just big retards.

there were a few cases that became popular on the internet in the US about nogs who carjacked someone driving a manual and they had to abandon the car because they kept stalling. in the US a lot of country boys would know how to drive a manual and a lot of older people in general. a lot of city people wouldnโ€™t know how. any car theyโ€™d drive would be an automatic since no one wants a manual in stop and go traffic. I believe outside of sports cars it is difficult to by a normal car in manual from a dealership.

No one should be given a driver's license unless they can pass the road test on a manual transmission vehicle.

When I was old enough to get a license my dad offered to buy me a car, but only a manual. He forced me to learn and I am grateful for that. I plan to do the same with my kids, assuming that stick shift still exists by then.

autos are simple mechanic devices that rely on input to give an output. you give it crap input it returns a crap output.
everyone can drive an auto few actually understand how to make them do what you want. ok some cheap small cars just are shit but most autos i have driven i could make it do exactly what i wanted to with just some throttle finesse.

Manual in europe is the same as truck culture in america. Because "I'm a real man". Other than that automatic is superior and gives less headache while driving.

The only advantages of manual is being more simple and cheaper to repair, especially that new CVT crap they pushing, and you get to choose what gear and rpms you want. Useful when you go uphill or want to drive fast.

i go between both like nothing. i love autos for their kickdown and torque converter/stall speed, its such a rush to just floor it and hear all the mechanical thingywingys and doodads doing everything it can to keep your engine in the power band and just feel the constant acceleration. i also love manuals since if its a diesel like all my last cars have been i just need 6th gear anyway.
