Have you met real alcoholics? I went to a private psychiatric clinic late last year for a short rehab program and I left early because it was expensive for what it offered, the psychiatric patients were kinda crazy obviously (there was even a 18yo girl with blue hair and full of tattoos and piercings identifying as a guy) but those who were really unbearable were the alcoholic uncles in the rehab ward who were basically the rest of the whole patients in that ward, they didn't do something to me but they were extremely loud and they would start arguing with each other out of nowhere for nonsense

can fake it as completely normal yet drink a bottle of vodka at work then drive home. the ones who crash and kill you when they eventually had 2 bottles at work. can be saved.

shouldnt be insufferable because you never see me in the open drunk and i hope i can be saved.
did an AA course during my first dui sentence and the stories of the hard ones in denial hits hard. im never gonna reach that level.

I'm also facing a DUI case. Blew .09 and have cooperated, doing a bunch of stuff even before the court date like substance use counseling and community service. Everyone I've interacted with says that's typical of the low level cases. In court I saw one guy who got 30 days after accumulating 5 or 6 DUIs within a few years even after losing his license. Some stories I heard in AA were similar.

Don't deal with alcoholics. Most domestic murders are committed by drunk degenerates because they remembered a minor offense that happened 15 years ago.

If alcohol were an illegal substance, alcoholists would be considered bottom of the barrel druggies. Worse than opioid / benzo addicts

its an instant 2 year buspass, 21days prison and 1,5 month income in fine here if its above 0,5bac. i got 1,2...
then i did it again and that should be a lifelong driving ban but i had money to pay for a lawyer then and was diagnosed with anxhiety and i was in therapy so got it reduced by a lot.

In my state a lot of first offenses get deferred adjudication and probation for 6-18 months. You also need an ignition breathalyzer for at least 6 months. If you were very drunk and caused property damage you might get a few days in jail. We don't have random checkpoints though, and in my rural area drunk driving is pretty common. If you're barely over the limit they sometimes don't bother prosecuting because within a week or two a more important case might pop up. It's insane and won't end unless there's more ride-sharing services or places to be entertained without getting drunk.
