Someone would have thought that the Western "logical" countries would have chosen communism and the Eastern "evil" countries would have chosen capitalism but oh well

The West gave up on all pretenses of being logical as soon as the Rousseau-influenced Jacobins took power in Revolutionary-era France. People often claim that the 19th century was the post-Kantian century, but in the political arena, it was the post-Rousseauian century.
