When it comes to culture, we have our own blend that takes from all the empires that ruled us at one point. The influence of languages like Aramaic (which itself is close to Phoenician) on our Arabic dialect (if you insist on calling it so) is very evident.
To say that we have so much in common with Saudi Arabia that we are the same people or that we are "half Peninsular Arab" is lunacy and active denial of reality. Maronism in Lebanon was never under the auspices of Byzantium. The clergy takes far more from the Latin church, but mostly for political reasons. Maronites were often engaging in rebellion against the Byzantines. From day 1 it was nothing but cope to avoid getting genocided from both ends.
