The eastern half of france was hardly a unified state and you had places like burgundy that were petty feuds funded by germanic tribes.
France itself is the result of a German warlord conquering gaul and splitting it for his lackeys

I wouldnt really characterize medieval feuds as wars.

Additionally, at no point in this thread have I said the German state did not have a more capable military than the French state, therefore this example is a strawman argument. I simply argue that the Germans are not necessarily a "naturally warrior-like" race as you seem to be implying. Even if you disregard the ridiculous implication of your argument that there has been a single country, kingdom, federation, or empire that has been in possession of a military that is compromised either entirely or almost entirely of ethnic Germans, (the definition of which changes depending on the era, and is too nuanced to be generalised into one term), and thus whose conflicts we are able to say are indicative of the military prowess of the "German people", there are numerous examples I can think of where the military of the German polity at the time was utterly and swiftly crushed by an invading force, (Swedish intervention in the 100 years war and the Napoleonic wars stand out the most).

What made Rome special wasn't that it was large or that it conquered others lots of countries and leaders have done so. It's the staying power that Rome didn't collapse or splinter or fall to enemies for hundreds and in some places thousands of years. Rome to Romans wasn't just a country or even the best country it was the civilized world and there were no equals. When another tribe was assimilated it had to be Romanized.
