Contrary to common stereotypes, its actually not that easy to move to most western countries to work legally (getting a refugee status is another story). Poland on the other hand has one of the most lenient work immigration laws in the EU (and on the opposite side it has rather harsh approach to illegal immigration/refugees). If someone wants to actually work, then Poland/eastern European countries are often more viable options than whatever western EU country.
