Nazism was German romanticism I'm pretty sure they prided themselves in medievalism and Arminius defeating Rome and whatnot. Italians never held a grudge against Germans. Well no shit, Germany is at the core of Europe, whenever something radiates outwards is almost always from there, no one of the peripheral powers to be wanted Germany to unify, let alone begin a imperial expansion because it could easily take them all out as proven by the nazis taking all of Europe at once.
