Intellectual property is an entirely made up modern concept. Humans have no inherent intuitive attitudes towards it so it's interpretation is left to cultural norms. Japs are taught to take copyright seriously so they do.

I know only Japanese and Americans care about copyrights because contents from only these two countries are consumed globally.

It has to do with who holds property of your image. In the west your image is a social product, you dont have power regarding how people see you but you do have it if people says lies about you. In the east you hold the right of your own image, this mea you can punish people who taimt your image even if its true.

This is why asia is soo assblasted with property right, because they are part of your image and your image belong to you. In the West your property right extend only to when it hurt your business, but fuck you if someone is mocking it.

I read some "japanese reddit" website sometimes as native content to study and their copyright autism is way worse than their usual autism.
Some dude was mad as fuck because he realized 15 years later that his poor dad made him play a pirated version of pokemon on the PC so he could fit in with the kids as school.
He made a 5000 words essay about his dad being the worse human on earth and that he was personally morally tainted for life because of him.

Yep. Intellectual property is not property. Property is what you are injured by if taken away from you. If M'bulu M'bulu in Mali or Ivan in Siberia downloads my music, or game, etc. nothing is taken from me and I'm not injured, especially when both of these individuals cannot afford it.

Everyone should see the movie The Ballad of Narayama once in their lives, then you would understand. Japs didn't hang thieves like we did. They called in the uncles, cousins, etc. and the village buried the whole extended family alive. It's a x100 evolution accelerator with a few side effects like the one you mention.

If creators spend time and effort and financial resources to produce some content only to see it freely replicated with no compensation towards them that removes any incentive to produce any content. Hobbyists would live on, but forget about million dollar budget movies.

It's still not properly though. Also I always end up buying games that I liked on Steam even after many years and no intent to play them. I wish I didn't buy Fallout 3 or Stellaris though. That'd be good, billion dollars companies that make shit games would get actually punished.
