I'm worried about a future where there are so many Indians on the internet that making fun of them is no longer possible. Saying anything negative about India will face too much resistance due to the sheer number of them online. Indians will control the narrative.
For an example of what I'm talking about, think back to the inception of the zoomer meme. Back then zoomers weren't a majority on the internet like they are today. It was possible to freely make fun of them, and the general consensus about zoomers was mostly negative. But as Gen Z's presence on the internet grew over time, you started to see more zoomers appearing in threads and getting upset at the memes about them. Nowadays I feel it's more common to see zoomers making fun of millennials online than millennials making fun of zoomers. The Overton window of age discourse has totally flipped.
This is what I'm worried is already happening with Indians. Every day tens of thousands of Indians get connected to the internet. The number of Indians in western countries only continues to increase. If this keeps up, things are going to reach a point where there are so many Indians online that any criticism of them is going to be immediately shut down by the angry Indian mob. Right now there's still enough of a negative connotation around Indians online that most Indians try to obscure their true identity, but once they realize they outnumber us they won't need to do that anymore. I don't want to live in a world with an Indian dominated internet.
