>>213592530Nope, the most prosperous economies have always been built off production of actual goods. Services are easy to replicate, finished products aren't. Try to name any US service that doesn't have a large foreign rival. Don't get me wrong, there are a few but not many.
Then look at our trade deficit, how many goods we use and are dependent on are made outside the US. And as society become more technologically integrated, how its critical to be able to develop leading edge tech within our borders for economic and national security purposes--remember covid supply chain collapse?
Imagine of all AMD, Intel, Apple, Nvidia, etc. had their chips made in the US. We'd not only make money selling the finished good but we'd pocket the hundreds of billions each year in foundry services costs--imagine what that money can do for our economy and wages for high paying jobs. It absolutely matters to make good within our borders.
There is a reason why Trump is trying hard as possible to bring manufacturing back home.
