If you're college educated, have the means to homeschool your children, and take the task seriously, you can provide a far better education than what the public education system can currently offer. Unfortunately, most of the people who homeschool are retards who have absolutely no business teaching children. It should be allowed, but there should be checks to make sure that there's actual learning going on. Maybe some sort of yearly assessment or something.

That's precisely the kind of people I'm referring to when I say most homeschool parents have no business teaching children. In America, the equivalent would be zogwashed Christian fundamentalists. Those people should absolutely be locked out of homeschooling as an option through whatever means are available. As things stand, there aren't anywhere near enough checks and safeguards to ensure these children are getting a proper education. All that being said, I can't support an outright ban. I work in education, and I've seen how bad things are firsthand. I can't begrudge any sensible, reasonably intelligent parent for wanting to do better for their kids.

I think school is very important, it teaches social skills and dampens sociopathic, zealous, overindulgent behaviour. Sure, homlgeneization is going to happen, but it was happening even if you are at home. School is a possible social safeguard net (through the system providing employable skills, or personal friendships through colleagues) and that way a disfunctional family will have less chances of creating maladaptive adults.

It's allowed and somehow grew a lot in the last 10 years or so. I know there are communities of expats who do homeschooling here, like among themselves. Homeschooling is regulated in Argentina, the children must do free exams with a basic curriculum to pass

I'm 100% in favor. Public schools here are garbage trashcans and private ones may be expensive for some people.

You still have a curriculum and exams are standardised so youre still going to have to learn the slop but youll have more time to learn outside of a narrow curriculum. Homeschooling means you miss out on social interactions which can be a positive or a negative but youre probably not going to be completely "normal" socially unless youre from a large family or something
