I was surprised to find out that Jews in America dont see themselves as white. Why is that? Why cant u be Jewish and white

The entire basis of Judaism is the blood-bound covenant made between YHVH and the descendants of Abraham. Genealogy then is incredibly important to the Jewish self-identity, which is also why you can't actually convert as a goyim (you can technically but not really, you're still outside the Covenant no matter what).

White is a fluid term. Right now anyone with a pale skin color is white. If non-whites are thrown out of the western countries the term will be redefined to exclude slavs and eastern europeans first. Imagine if eastern euros disappeared overnight. Then the whiteness will be redefined again to exclude italians, spanish, etc. There will always be a pecking order. Jews on the other hand can't imagine themselves being in the same group as goyim and see themselves as superior. They seem to be always winning though so it might be true after all.

I doubt there are very many actually religious Jews. You can browse places like r/Judaism and see that they're mostly focused on creating an us vs them cultural identity and nursing a narcissistic persecution complex. Religion is seldom brought up.

Also while Ashli’s are still more privileged and rich than the rest of the population, nobody really cares or uses that in the public discourse anymore. Last generation everybody started intermixing and we have a 1st/2nd generation of mixed Ashki/Brown kids. Therefore there’s not much animosity between the groups apart from jokes about food or the way you pray and stuff. I am marrying an Ashki myself and we laugh about whether our kids will behave more like browns or Ashkis
