Different backgrounds. Unlike Turks opening up kebab shops here it's mostly Lebanese and sometimes Syrians opening up shawarma spots. It's quite popular in parts of Australia as well

Italian/Greek/Carribean/shawarma are all huge in the city here for restaurants because they did it right

what? no. gyros, kebab and dürüm are the popular stuff in hungary. gyros either comes on a plate or in pita and usually has fries. kebab does not come with fries just vegetables and is stuffed in a thing that is closer to like a zsömle. dürüm is kebab in a wrap. there is not 100% consistency in this and there are variations but its not the same thing. compare blue agori to hari kebab and you can see the difference

how much does a mid-size kebab cost in Hungary?
here the prices went up lately (like everything), in Warsaw where I live it's around 4-5eur, more often 5

also, who runs kebab shops in Hungary, always Middle Eastern immigrants or you also have Hungarian-run shops?

in Poland initially (90s/00s) most kebab shops were run by ethnic Poles, because we didn't have immigrants yet, they just learnt the recipe from German Turks, bought the equipment there and sold it here

nowadays with the immigration wave, in big cities virtually all kebab shops are run by foreigners, though i'd say Bengalis/Pakis/Indians are more common than real Turks (even if the shop is named like "Original Istanbul Kebab"). In small towns you can still spot a Polish-run place (fun fact, pork kebab isn't uncommon there) though I see more and more ethnics taking over places there too.

Most of the shops are run by turks and arabs but you can also see a hungarian here and there. Usually a muslim man cuts the meat and there is a hungarian woman behind the counter. But recently I even saw flips and viets working on the skewer.

gyros in greece used to be ground beef just like in turkiye until late 60s and pork would be used to make souvlaki. that was until the junta decided to buy in bulk tons of spoiled beef from argentina and boycotted zimbabwe so no one would trust beef gyros anymore and resorted to using thin slices of pork

youtube rel in this scene of an old greek movie you can see that it is ground beef on the skewer behind

this is not an achievement
for that you literally need two things
1. be from an exotic country (from Poland's perspective exoticness starts like south of Hungary, the Balkans are already exotic)
2. be in Poland
literally fulfilling these two criterias guarantees you sex every evening with a new girl

btw, i once experienced a situation so my dad was chatting with his friend who had a daughter around my age that I kinda liked (though I never said it to her or to anyone) and this girl was preparing for going for vacations to some Med country, Greece or Turkey i don't remember, but his father told my father something like (in a jokingly manner but in fact serious)
>I hope she will find a boyfriend here because a son in law from such a place would be so cool and I wouldn't want her to have a Polish bf
you can imagine what I felt inside when I heard that but that's just how it is here, the inferiority complex is so strong so Polish dads would give their daughters to Turks rather than see them dating Polish guys, and it's because they know that Polish guys who already get married and don't need to compete anymore, tend to become alcoholic and start beating their wives
