I would be okay with this if they included the northern non-turked Kajkavian parts of Croatia, our northern islands and as much as Central Croatia and Chakavian Lika/ Northern Dalmatia as well, and that the country was a federation with Carniolan-Styrian Slavs in the north-west and Croats in the south-east. Zagreb doesn't even have to be the capital, actually it shouldn't be.
Towns and areas around them like Trst, Gradec, Celovec are a bit too ambitious in this timeline where Slovenians barely exist there but if it had those as well it would be a perfect country.

Slovenia was basically the same country as Austria since the early middle ages. A much larger part of that land was Slavic speaking but gradually Bavarians settled and what is today Austria started speaking German while Slavic speakers remained in the south.
They separated from Austria because they got caught-up in the South Slavic Illyrian and later Yugoslav movements which was all about Slavic independence from non-Slavic people. I think today many of them miss living with Austrians because besides speaking different language families they are culturally and genetically mostly identical.
