It depends on what herbivores they eat and how polluted the environment around them is. Chickens are omnivores but many farmers forced them to eat just seeds and plants despite the fact that insects and small rodents, reptiles and amphibians are pretty vital for them. Pigs are super opportunistic omnivores and love having some protein to round out their diet like eggs.

to me it just makes sense to allow dairy and eggs. it would be crazy if something like margherita pizza were disallowed, it's just not compatible with life. but all in all my favorite vegetarian dish is chili sin carne in a pita bread which doesn't include dairy or eggs at all, I ate them almost every single day as a teenager
