Same here. Spanish is a Romance language with tons of Arabic, Celtic, Gothic, Nahua, and Quechua loanwords. It's ultimately descended from a language that was spoken on the steppes of Ukraïne and Russia, and was later on adopted first by the Latins, and later on by their Celtiberian subjects.

Mexico has 13 million people who speak indigenous languages, mostly poor people in rural areas. They're more commonly spoken as by older folk who only had elementary education at best, and are seldom spoken by young people living in urban areas. There are some LARPers in large cities like Mexico City and Guadalajara, but then again, they're not really representative of the kind of people whom you'll usually hear speaking Zapotec or Maya in Mexico.
