in poland you have to cough up 3000-4000 zlotych so around 700 - 900 euros for a course only and additionally over 100 euros for tests if you can pass first time (only 30% people pass)

the theoretical (written) exam and driving exam themselves are free in my state, though you have to apply for a slot online and it's generally a pain in the ass. the license itself is only about $10 to have it be printed out and mailed. between the written and practical exam you do need a driving teacher so those rates vary but i think i paid about $50 an hour, privately, though the state requires 5 hours of on-the-road practice. you can definitely find them for cheaper

I went to school in the us and driving classes were free, exam was free, only had to pay for the license card itself BUT the dmv is hell on earth because too many people there waiting for hours and the staff are cunts. Well I'll give exception to one person because my eyes tested badly and was told I needed driving glasses and I begged to get the card because I need an id card and won't even drive and they gave it to me and said to get glasses before driving. Lucked out.

Now I'm in europe and it's fucking expensive and a waste of time. I just want to ride my vespa scooter not a car and don't want to do this shit. But now I have no license, so I must find a way around this.

No, you go to a parking lot and then drive around there, and then probably drive from the parking lot back to your home with your mom or dad supervising you. You're technically supposed to have a learner's permit but I think the majority of people just do so without it.

same in poland. I had to go to the transportation department 7 times in my life and every single time was a miserable experience.
You have to reserve a visit week+ in advance, for a specific hour and then you have to claim your spot by showing up at a "ticketing machine" at least 10 minutes before your scheduled visit. If you don't show up 10 minutes in advance your visit will be cancelled so of course you do show up 10 minutes before only to sit in the waiting hall for anywhere between 10 minutes and 1.5 hours depending on the mood and the phase of the menstrual cycle of the old whores working there.

I didn't see any reason for it and I hated driving with her because she was extremely stressful and bossy
My mum would often force me to drive to locations, for example at one point we started going supermarket shopping an hour away just so I could get my hours up
I kept on complaining because I didn't think I needed to drive
Anyway now I realise I would have been even more fucked if I didn't have my license and couldn't drive so I'm grateful, even getting min wage jobs would have been impossible

It's about more than 2k eurodollars here in Germoney. If you happen to have a disability it's even more expensive, since they fleece you for an additional 119 eurodollars just so that the guy overseeing the driving test can tell you if you need special shit in your car. And if you happen to need modifications in your car, you have to pay for those out of your own pocket.
