Here’s the truth many avoid: most jobs don’t require a degree, just weeks/months of (supervised) training. That won’t turn you into an md or a airplane pilot, but the majority of roles can be learned quickly by a person of average intelligence.

there is an invisible class division here. people with degrees will only hire others with a degree, it defends their position but they will not hire someone with a better or higher degree than themselfs.
people without a degree will not hire someone with one because they know they dont know shit and will demand top pay from day1 despite the first year or so is basicly training.
there is no requrements for degrees in most fields, doctors, lawyers etc shure but building bridges or rockets? you are better off starting at the floor and actually buildt them and learn as you go, no degree will teach you that.

The issue is useless parasitic middle managers and H.R people have an incentive to set up lots of hoops and long powerpoints about nothing because it justifies their own jobs and gives themselves work
Undeniably it would be more efficient for society if many jobs weren't as gatekept, and if people could just start on job training right away. there's probably a lot of people who would be good at certain jobs who just wash out from all the pointless certifications and other annoying hoops

a degree is a piece of proof that you have adaquate competence/capability/commitment/motivation to perform a job.
some people are overconfident in their intelligence or whatever, but they don't even have enough commitment to go through 4 years of uni which is 70% partying/playing anyway, what's the point of entrusting them with tasks?

The value is in proving you can understand it, not that you can remember it forever without a recap. All this post proves is that a large portion of the medical profession is a joke. Once someone has a medical degree its a license to be considered right about everything, even if they are ruining peoples lives on a daily basis. Many of them are doing that.
