Funniest thing is that Magyarization only worked on Jews and Germans basically. They still are, both them and Slovaks. Croatia despite still being a shithole is turning out to be the most sane state from those lands that made up medieval Hungary.
Hungarians and Italians often do irredentist stunts even including high-position politicians like Orban but they barely get any attention here because after Yugoslavia, Croatia mostly ignores its history prior to the 20. century and is hyper-focused on Serbia and Bosnia. This is also the reason why we know so little about Hungary despite being the same country with them and Slovaks for the better part of the last millennia.

We have them but you have to look closely. A lot of last names in Slavonia and loans in some Kajkavian dialects come from Hungarian. Also the names of our towns ending in -var. In comparison it's easier to notice the newer Serbian and Ottoman influence.

The Hungarian language like Hebrew is mostly an artificial 19th century construct. It had almost become extinct during the Ottoman occupation and was a peasant dialect while the language of business was German and Latin was used for state documents. Zagreb wasn't even an actual city until the 19th century. Croatian medieval core was in North Dalmatia. It only shifted because of Ottoman and Venetian invasions.

My colleague at work got angry with Croatian prices and decided to go to Albania instead last year. When she came back she said there were literally goats sleeping on what Albanians called a highway (basically a one-lane mountain road) and when they tried to enter a beach which was described as free in the guidebook, some shady guy with a gun appeared and demanded a fee.
She said never again and next year she's going to Croatia, no matter what prices there are.

Man I like the Adriatic, I really do, my region is on it and it's the sea of my childhood, but it's definitely not on par with the Aegean or the other seas in south med.
Croatia used to be a cheaper Greece years ago, now they've improved a lot and their seat as cheap holiday destination is taken by Albania /Montenegro. But they did the mistake of raising prices too much and too fast, so now they have basically Greece prices, with an holiday experience that's obviously not the Greek one.
