That's not how the tax works. it's not a flat 50%. 50% is taxable. so half of the gain would be considered taxable, so about 25k would be taxable and then the standard rate would apply to the 25k.

you can check which kind via the number on the recycling triangle. i mostly avoid plastics just by nature of using plates and cooking most of my food, and due to the nature of not knowing the microwave other people are using i can't myself recommend that people actively microwave plastic... that being said, if the frozen food's got the number 5 for polypropylene and it says to microwave the container on the instructions, i'm probably going to microwave it.

i dunno dude, that's a much bigger issue than my kitchen conversation here. microplastics are in the ocean, they're in the air, they're passed from mother to child. i don't think microwaving is significantly affecting the amount of microplastics you're getting unless it's a kind of plastic that is not safe to microwave (in which case you have a much bigger issue of everything else that's leaching into your food in non-micro amounts)
