I'm doing passive immersion, my Kaishi 1.5k every day, and watching my wife's grammar videos. It's been one week. I am able to understand a minuscule amount and get the rough meaning of a sentence, especially when I encounter words or phrases I know.

Japanese grammar is incredibly basic, it's about as complex as Indonesian. I've noticed that just doing vocab drills is enough, once you memorize the SOV grammar structure the rest is piss easy, the only complicated part is the ungodly amount of homophones.
