This won’t happen because all of Britain’s mainstream parties want more immigrants regardless of what they say on camera. More immigrants = lower wages = higher profits. The only anti-immigrant groups are fringe political extremist movements who hold no meaningful sway over national politics.

It annoys normal people to have to constantly have to deal with inept immigrants who can’t speak the native language just as much as it annoys anyone else. Ask a fucking liberal Canadian what that they think of all the Indian service workers in their country and you’ll get some interesting responses.
The problem is that government bodies (and to be more specific, the people lobbying those government bodies) are the ones who want more immigrants. All they care about is clinging to power, and a good way to get reelected is having graphs that show how many new jobs you created, or how much the GDP line went up. Never mind how many of those jobs went to migrants you shipped in, or how companies were turning higher profits from paying their migrant workers pennies. All that matters is that their braindead supporters, the same people unable to find work because they can’t compete with migrant wages, see those graphs and think “surely that success will work its way down to me one day!”.
