On the day of market-day Torbjorn the Ruddy avowed to Hrafn-Sven who was selling mutton that the mutton he had sold him was below the acceptable margin for mutton. Hrafn-Svenur then made an oath that this was not so, but Torbjorn the Ruddy did not accept this and so struck Hrafn-Sveinur sideways across the cheek with the obverse of his palm and so it did occur that there was a commotion in the market-square. Young-Bjornur the Huskarl did step into the fray and exchanged words with Torbjorn, who would not come to reason until Young-Bjornur threatened to strike him down there in the midst of the market square on market day. No oaths were sworn by either aggrieved party and both withdrew in bad blood to their own homesteads with their folk.
