Those lands belonged to Croats 1300 years before the Italian nation was artificially created in the sound of rifles and cannons (exactly in 1871).
>>213832801
the date is correct, i checked it twice
eventually we could also use 1922 which was the date when Italian nationalism and imperialism was artificially created >>213832783
it has nothing to do with communism, Croatia's ownership of this land predates communism by 1300 years as well
as Churchill said, east from the line Stettin-Trieste there is Europa dell'Este and that's a natural Slavic habitat

it didn't feel fragmented because Venice was a thalassocracy, which means sea connection between their land was much more important and in this sense their country was easy to manage, they didn't need land connection between the bits of their land at all
I don't understand at all why the Italians insist on claiming Croatian land. Not only because it historically doesn't belong to them, but because they have a large coastline.
>>213833954
romans are more related to germanics than modern shitalians who mixed with every creature that slithered up from north africa and the middle east
>>213833889
I wouldn't say it's just that. It's been proven through the centuries that the Italians are obsessed with Croatia. You spent both world wars trying to get the Croatian coast.
I can acknowledge the continuity of the Italians with the Romans, but the fact is that a huge number of slaves from all parts of the empire immigrated to Italy. So, that is certainly 'diluted' blood. But I cannot acknowledge their right to the Croatian coast because if they have a historical right to that, then they also have a historical right to London or Lisbon, and that, we can agree, is idiocy. The Croats came in the 7th century at the invitation of the Roman emperor, they settled the coast and assimilated the local Romans, who were few anyway because that territory had been exposed to centuries of barbarian invasions and it was almost a desolate and empty space. After the immigration, Croats/Croatian kings/Croatian aristocracy lived in all these coastal cities.

Here is a list of Renaissance palaces and aristocracy in Split. They were mostly built by the best Croatian architect of the time, who also built in Italy. In addition to Split, there are ruins of residences, churches and tombs of Croatian kings. Then there are also Croatian aristocratic families from Hvar, Dubrovnik, Krk, etc. You can find it all after 10 minutes of Googling.

Is this obsession with the Croatian coast a derivative of the Napoleon complex? You lost ww2 and got kicked out by Partisans fair and square >inb4 muh massacres
You started killing Croats there first, this was simply revenge by those locals, was it morally correct? Probably not
Didn't half your country used to be german not even a century ago?
Why slavs can only steal? Whey they never try to build something of their own for once
>>213837226
Yeah so loyal they betrayed them as soon as they could and kicked them all out and killed tens of thousands of them in Slovenia and Croatia

Secondo parte della critica G. potrebbe essere identificato con lo "Schiavone che fece assai cose in Venegia" ricordato da Vasari (1568) tra gli allievi di F. Brunelleschi
But that doesn't matter at all. It's about who commissioned the work, who is the owner. The owners are Croatian aristocrats. St. Petersburg was built by Italian architects, so it's a Russian city, not an Italian one. You're probably taught in school that Croats are some IQ 80 illiterate barbarians who lived in the villages while the Italians were the city aristocracy and artists. The truth is the opposite, Croatian aristocrats and artists lived in the cities, and a great many Croatian professors, artists and theologians worked at universities in Italy.

The Schiavoni were not just slavs but all the peoples living in the eastern coast of the adriatic.
100% Italians from the area were called schiavoni too.
>>213838253
You found one example, but he was indeed Italian with parents from Italy itself. All the other 'schiavonni' were born in Croatia/ Croats. What then should Riva degli Schiavoni mean? In all Croatian, Italian and Latin dictionaries of that time, Schiavo is a synonym for Croat.
>>213843255 >ecause 100+ years ago more Slovenians lived in Trieste than in Ljubljana
Nonsense.
I guess more italians live in London than in Bucodiculo (BO) but that doesnt mean London is italian
>>213832272 (OP)
Do average Italians know Italy transferred these small territories to France in the treaty of Paris (1947) after WW2?
If so, do you want them back?

No one below the age of 60 actually gives a shit about Trst, it's just a funny meme.
I've been there recently and the bins next to the train station had text in italian and 3 eastern squiggly script.
They can keep it.
italians lost those lands because their incompetent military was too busy eating pasta and singing amore mio than fighting
in fact, any land they own is not due to military competence but rather perfect timing when to switch sides of war, or to suck off an influential western politician
Yes we know
Briga and Tenda were small villages, the frogs wanted them because there was a massive hydroelectric central there (don't know the word in English, hope you understand what I mean). Italian soldiers put bombs in it and destroyed it anyway when it became clear the French would have get it.
Degaulle was a massive bitch and even wanted to annex parts of Piedmont and valle d'Aosta after WW2, but the brits and the Americans kindly told him to shut his mouth.
