626 years since first mentioned in a document, some buildings were before that
>>213843392 (OP) The first and main cities were all created on paper in the early 1840s A lot of European cities were established before even the maoris made it to NZ in 1250 AD
there were archeological digs that found remnants of settlement from the neolithic period (4th century BC) it's been settled by germanic tribes since the time of Christ Around 1050 a small wooden castle is documented as well as its current name which comes from the local lord who built it
>>213847076 That doesn't count, probably. My city is like a bit more than 300 years old, but there were some villages before and also the archaeologists discovered some settlement almost in the centre of the city which is dated as 15 thousands years old.
>>213843392 (OP) The town in which I currently live was founded in 1908.
But I just moved here from a city first mentioned in the late 4th century CE, a short distance from a first-century Roman settlement. It wasn’t a particularly important place until it became a bishopric in 740, though.

>>213843392 (OP) Around 2300-ish years old if you assume that it's the same city as the ancient city it was founded on because it's always been inhabited; it just changed names and had a few ups and downs. Just 200 years if you mean with the same name as now.
