I'm not a NEET technically; one semester left to graduate(undergrad though. I wasted an year with doing nothing and 2 years of national service so in total 3 years behind), and looking forward to get a job in power plant as a mech eng. Most of them require some engineering license(How is it called in US? FE or EIT?) so now i'm preparing for the test. Not really sure if i could get the job right after i graduate though as the job market is tough and my portfolio is weak as fuck too.

It's a good job if you just want to survive and don't care about a career. Better than most other gig type work like delivery or taxi services. Plus you get what you pay for.
