Whereas, 50 years ago the average "indian" to a boomer was either religious gurus or, more commonly, Mother Theresa. You also had better politicians back then that cared more about people and were not hinduist nationalists, and were smart enough to play up Christian piety towards Europeans and American catholics to find middle path between US, USSR and PRC. Whereas these days Modi is on a one way track to a huge future war with Pakistan/Bangledesh/China.

People assume that there are justifiable reasons to hate but the reality is that the hate is motivated by material reasons. Indians are hated because they threaten the middle and upper class westerners' job and housing prospects. latinos commit exponentially more crime, are academically underachieving and flooded the USA but they never bump shoulders with the aforementioned whites so they're 'better'.

The exact opposite. People liked Indians more when their average experience was meeting with a doctor or engineer. Not when India decided to dump all its jobless young men on the rest of the world.

I don't think they were seen as cool but rather as mystic and exotic due to buddhism. Thailand took that spot when people turned against indians, which happened after their hijinks on tiktok went viral on the west and when they migrated everywhere en masse.
Personally, I actually felt sad for indians at first. But seeing that they are now trying to bring other races down with them to appeal to white people, I happily joined in the war against them

the english-speaking internet was entirely dominated by anglo-saxon culture up until a couple years ago. non-anglo english-speakers assimilated to the anglo culture on english-speaking websites. the mass influx of indians onto the english-speaking web has now created a stark dichotomy, the same language-groups on the same websites now divided between members of two completely different cultures. this creates friction, and thus hate
the solution is for indians to either stop speaking english, or the development of separate anglo-english and indo-english web spaces
