I think the majority are 'spiritual' leftist types somehow actually. But yeah. It's basically a pop culture thing mostly, which is why they latch onto le vikings. Partly it's a problem of the general population not being capable of intellectual depth, so the best they can do is parroting whatever made up meme they like the sound of and roleplaying like a child plays a game. The content of it, or the real world, obviously doesn't mean anything to do them. It's a form of self-aggrandising individualism.
Only those who do research and are interested in history tend to be serious, but that sort of understanding doesn't translate to genuine belief. And what is there to believe in anyway? There's practically nothing. Closest is some living or recently living (and therefore well-attested) folk traditions, but that's hardly a religion.
I'm totally irreligious several generations, but the thing is Christianity, even in morally distorted forms, is part of Western culture and it is a living tradition. So for anyone who needs religion and has genuine faith, it's surely the only serious option. I mean when people play around with these fake religions they just impose their sensibilities and logic and customs, which are invariably Christian in origin. It's like they're not even aware and just operate according to popular sentiment (i.e. Christianity bad, Vikangs cool).
