Working out is addicting as fuck, because of the hormones you get, during and post-workout when the muscle relaxants hit just right. But once you stop going for a long period of time, it gets harder and harder to go back, both mentally and physically. While it takes a short time to hit your peaks again, it still creates a bit of a mental roadblock.

I don't advise anybody to ever stop working out, even if you spend too much time in the gym.

Any exercise is better than no excercise, with that said the run is the best thing there and you should do variations for those exercises, there are some muscles groups that aren’t even used there.
