I'd like to have one for the last few kilometers to get to work from the train station so I don't need to take the bus which takes way longer. Unfortunately most of them aren't road legal here. I don't think they would cause much trouble here as long as people stick to the bike paths. I think they should not be allowed as the tourist rental things that you see in some countries because tourists can't be trusted but private ownership I would have no problem with.
If anything should be banned, it's fatbikes. Teenagers buy them from aliexpress and make them go way too fast and sit on them with 3 at a time and then crash and die.

In the States, basically anything with wheels other than cars are more and more scarce, in cities and suburbs. (In the Cunt, bikes of any kind have always been pretty useless for practical purposes, given the typical distances and seasonal extremes) One is either in a car or on foot when going anywhere regularly.

If your city and/or country has a scooter problem that means your city/coutry has failed to consider anyone else but car drivers when it comes to urban planning.
The existence of e-scooter is a direct consequence of decades of infrastructure design and implementation that prioritizes the needs of carniggers above everyone else.
