It doesn’t make me seethe, but I don’t approve of absolute monarchies, or monarchy in general—even hereditary monarchs are useless inbred parasites cosplaying as their warlord ancestors, and it always strikes me as weird when their subjects (whose own ancestors perhaps once farmed and/or died for the aforementioned warlords) feel anything but contempt for them. I also think the place is mostly unpleasant (largely in bad taste, with an inhospitable climate), but in my few visits it’s at least weird enough to be sort of interesting.

As for labor and human rights abuses, sure. But get in line—they’re hardly the world’s worst offenders on that front. And my own country isn’t exactly hitting it out of the park at the moment, either.

So I’m not an especially big Dubai fan, but I have other stuff to seethe about.
