>There are two interpretations of the name. One is from the Old Norse vaett-vangr, or 'field for the trial of a legal action'. Another theory is that it was the "Wet Field" compared to the nearby dry field at Driffield.[3]

Front gardens are handy for turning into a driveway. All the poorfag roads in my town, with tiny front gardens, have a proper shit time with parking.

I heard there used to be communal toilets instead of backyards (backgardens) here.
So are the current bathrooms taking up what could have been an extra room in these homes, making them even smaller and shittier?

maybe its a bad angle but it just looks like all bushes surrounded by a fence?
I'm not saying it has to be astroturfed grass but can you actually walk through that? it seems at that point it would have been better to just keep the trees and pave everything else

god this country is such an ugly dystopian shithole
would look better if all the houses were white with cream rooms and wooded doors/window trims

There are green spaces between the rails, the neighbours have set up trampolines and other kids' toys there, there's also some benches, the pictures on google street view were taken in winter, but in spring, summer, and autumn the bushes and trees grow thick, and cats can hide in the foliage

and everyone over 18 stone, under 80 IQ, or with more than three documented criminal offenses impaled upon brushed copper stakes and displayed in concentric rows in the towns' squares.

i don’t get it at all, i think the trademark brick style of the uk is the absolute worst. it just lacks any kind of charm or style, houses from basically anywhere on the continent look better. plus we produce shit like >>213913729. it’s just an ugly country. half of it needs to be knocked down and redone.
>>213913823
Well it's better than commie blocks. But when it's sunny it doesn't look back at all. But I haven't been to much places in the UK, only in Yorkshire and London. I don't like London but I enjoyed Yorkshire.

How cities in Europe look isn’t defined by their Gee Dee Pee today, but how wealthy or relevant it has historically. Dresden is one of the poorest cities in Germany but (at least the old town) the grandest looking
>>213914705
can’t blame this on the rich when poor places in the uk look like this >>213914788
true. i just think it’s ironic cornwall has never been rich or relevant ever but that single street mogs at least half of the country

It’s a quite ugly part of Europe in general. But Flanders is the most beautiful part of it. UK … don’t really think, Oxford or Edinburgh strikes me as gorgeous but none of the big cities. Germany is extremely hit or miss due to WW2, whatever is preserved is great but much isn’t.
>>213915251
Lübeck, Hamburg (where it’s preserved), Lüneberg, Flensburg, Stralsund, Greifswald, Rostock are all nice, but then there’s also „jewels“ like Kiel that make you wanna kys

Germany does it best, it is gorgeous. I visited Cologne and another town I can’t remember for the life of me at Christmas and they were some of the best places I’ve been. England I just think looks shitty. Netherlands has a lot of the standard brick too but it looks a lot better, though maybe it’s a grass is greener thing. I just think a lot of our towns look ramshackle and mismatched and our run down areas are some of the most grim. Oxford and York are pretty nice but nicer towns are in the minority. Personally I think Bath is the most beautiful place in the country, I don’t know why we didn’t build more in that style.

It was nice when I went but tbf I was 14 on a school trip. I remember it being very pretty, lots of lovely houses near the lake where the Lindt factory was.
