maybe to westoids it's the same but to me Hungarian culture is really different from everything else in eastern Europe, not just Slavic cultures but also Balkan or Romanian or Baltic
I'd hazard a guess that Hungary is the only truly distinct culture in this region which isn't an amalgam of several neighboring cultures. The language is really only one of things, maybe even less relevant one. It's about how they build their houses, organize their family, how they put their surname before their name, how they love their baths, let alone their cuisine which is like from an outer world. You can clearly feel they are their own thing. When I as a Pole visit let's say Serbia, I feel at home, everything is recognizable to me, I feel like I think with the same patterns like these people. But Hungary feels competely foreign.
