My mom passed away back in April. I got to spend the last 2 days in hospice with her. I laid on her hospital bed, holding her hand, as she slowly lost her ability to speak. Shit was really weird. She said she saw my father several times when staring at the whiteboard in her room. One of my last few interactions with her was when she grabbed my shirt and just started feeling it (it was cashmere and felt nice). Her last meal was a hotdog despite being a vegetarian for the past 10 years.

I'm just thankful I was able to share those last few moments with her. I'm also married now and just happy to know that I'm not alone despite technically being an orphan.
