That's nice an all, but I can think of a number of things in recent years that I think were genocides.
So I want to ask him what exactly he believes should be done about it.
Tigrey in Ethiopia was starved and beaten into submission a few short years ago, there was an obvious ethnic element to the war. There was ethnic cleansing.
Myanmar was ethnically cleansing and murdering Muslims in the north, also on ethnic basis, causing a massive refugee crisis. That was genocide.
Now there is the civil war in Sudan, where in Darfur you're getting a re-run of previous genocidal actions against the same Africans. That's a genocide, again with starvation and murder based on faith and ethnicity.
I will not bring up Palestine and Ukraine, because they're talked about enough, or all the other conflicts I know less about.
So in a world like this, what are democracy loving people supposed to do, practically? Go around intervening? Or make vapid speeches? I think the former is impractical and the latter is meaningless.
Is passing some trade sanctions enough? If he thinks it's enough, I'd agree.
