It's not that they are low iq, which they are, that makes them behave like this.
You need to understand that modern day leftism relies solely on emotions and the stronger these emotions are, they more power they have. And that's all they really want, like any other politician: power.
Whether it's about gender inequality or prostitution or whatever, they need these obscure concepts without a clear indicator or metric to evaluate in order to exist. They dress themselves as fighters for a larger than life cause that needs no thought or criticism or skepticism, and they have morality on their side but in reality it's all smoke and mirrors.
People who vote for them are the same. People that need to feel strong emotions because they can't deal with the regularness of life
Same applies to all extremist ideologies

Reminds me of how an animal rights group pushed US Congress to ban cockfighting in PR without our vote or approval. Thankfully local government refuses to enforce it, but it has shrunk what was once a national pastime to a pretty underground endeavor.
It would be a shame if bullfighting was banned for petty reasons.
