My grandpa told me when he was a kid they were rooting for the USA in the Mexican-American war. He said they saw it as karma because they were still pissed Mexico left.

So now I'm dating a mexican girl and I'm pissed at grandpa for that. Like he claims to be a big hispanic dude but he/s really just pro Spain.

I feel a great kinship with other Hispanics. I find that all the half breeds are obnoxious and import ghetto culture to our communities. We should only interact with each other. Half breeds have an identity crisis.

Mexico let non-Mexicans settle in sparsely populated areas if they converted to Catholicism and learnt Spanish. Americans settled in sparsely populated areas, did not convert, did not learn Spanish and claimed independence, backed by the US government. If I'm not mistaken that also how the Americans got California.

TL;DR: Mexico got Anglo'd and lot half its territory (or more).
