I've only been to Portugal and Tunisia, neither were bad. If I had to choose I'd say Tunisia because it used to be safer when I visited than it is today, but it's not Tunisia's fault.

I was supposed to fly from Hamburg to Croatia, and then catch a train to Hungary to visit Budapest and fly back to the US. But I got sick the day of the flight, and decided it was easier to just take a series of trains through Eastern Europe, visiting each country as I went. I considered Switzerland-Austria instead, but thought that after Germany, they might be too samey.

Worst in what sense? If we're talking worst as in "god damn, what a shithole", then it's definitely India. But it was still interesting from a touristic point of view. If we're talking worst as in "my visit there was the most boring", then it's probably Belgium. Antwerp was quite nice, Brussels was very dull. I'm glad I visited the country once, but I wouldn't go there again.

depends where you were in Germany, if it was only Hamburg and the surroundings then Switzerland/Austria would be a completely different experience. Hamburg is flat and protestant, CH/AT are mountainous and catholic.

Most disappointing was Sweden
Most shithole places were Brussels and Marseille

There was no country that I found atrocious as a whole, at least in Europe, everything has very nice sides to it

Organised tour. Started from Dehli, went through the northern parts (not as far as the himalayas, but rajastan and uttar pradesh), through cities like Janpur and Agar.
India is a dirty shithole, but with a tour like that you mostly go through the various touristic attractions by a bus, while only viewing most of the grime and dirt through a window. And the touristic attractions are genuinely very impressive and worth seeing.
